I’m your marketing specialist, there to take away uncertainty

I also have a few other things going on in my life, so if you’re interested, read on…

Hi, I’m Sara,

I’m going to tell you all about me (if you want to know that is) but I first want to tell you what I do…

I’m the founder and owner of Peony Creative Media, my marketing and media brand, which delivers marketing support and courses to businesses wanting to grow and develop long-term through organic and brand marketing. Essentially, it’s all about connections and relationships.

I love working out ways to fix issues and plug the gaps in a company’s marketing strategy to help them get better results and, I love learning and developing my marketing knowledge, which is how I developed my unique PEONY marketing system to help businesses get what they need easily, quickly and in a way they understand.

When combined with my background in professional copywriting and more than 13 years marketing experience, I have a lot of knowledge to share with businesses who really need my help.

The variety and creativity marketing brings to a business truly is one of the most exciting things I do.

Who am I Anyway?

I’m no youthful girl anymore (my grown up children will attest to that) and I do have a lot of experience, but before we get into that, let’s go back to the beginning.

I kinda did everything backwards (well not kinda – I did) I got married and had children when all my friends went off to uni. I always knew I’d build the career I wanted, but back then, I had no idea what I was going to do or how I was going to do it.

And, by the time I was 25 I had been married six years, had three children and moved house four times (my husband was a soldier) and was living abroad in Germany.

This all sounds much more glamorous than it actually was, in fact it was hard work, demanding and difficult (and that’s just being married to a soldier, never mind the children or house moves).

Something Changed…

By the time I was 28 I decided I needed to do something for myself. So, we packed up our little army life and moved back home to the North East, which meant my soldier being away from us even more than when we were on camp.

I enrolled myself at the local uni and started my degree in English with Creative Writing at 29 with three small children in tow.

It was one of the best things I’d ever done and for the first time in years I actually felt myself again. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of who I am as a person is wrapped up in being a mother, but I always needed something else.

After my degree finished I went straight into a job in a marketing department as a copywriter, writing all the content, copy and sales descriptions for the company.

Marketing Forward…

This turned out to be a brilliant education for me, as the company market was a dry, tough sell, so it meant the entire team had to get creative.

Following this, my soldier got moved to London and this time we decided to go with him.

In London, I worked building up my marketing skills and knowledge and at 35, I had another baby, 10 years after my last child. This would be the last one we’d ever have, and it was while on maternity I started looking into working for myself and, for a time, offered freelance copywriting services, when going back to work would prove really costly.

Once the London posting was finished, we moved back home for the last time as my soldier was now looking at retirement age and we needed to think about a permanent home.

Building a Business…

It was over the next few years I continued to build my marketing career, ending up as head of marketing before leaving the corporate world for the last time and starting my marketing and media agency.

In the beginning I wasn’t sure what direction to take my marketing agency and after a few rebrands and defining my direction a little, I’ve now settled with Peony Creative.

I absolutely love helping brands find the holes and gaps in their marketing, so they can get the absolute best return for their marketing efforts.

Simultaneously, I went back to uni to get a masters degree in Creative Writing and have since written two fiction books.

A New Change…

It was also at this time my older children started to leave home, the oldest to be a soldier, like his dad, the next one to York with friends and a job in carpet fitting and flooring, and more recently, the third off to uni to become a nurse.

The fourth is still only school age, so we have become a single child household. After 20 years of noise and mess, these days things are much quieter.

Now I have a permanent home after a grand total of 10 house moves in more than 20 years and a business I love. My husband and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary a few years ago and find that we’re loving the life we’ve built.
